Rise of the Sunset

Earlier in this blog I published a picture of my poor Sunset apple after the damage done by rabbits.  Well just look at this.

This tree is a survivor in the truest sense of the word.  It has put up two strong shoots and is nearly peeping over the top of the pipe placed around it for its protection.  I know I will eventually have to choose one shoot as a new leader but for the moment I intend to let both shoots grow, with the intention of removing the weaker one early next year when I prune the rest of the apples. What a great little tree.
