My little medlar tree seems not to know any limit to growth. When I planted it in February it was no more than a twig. No sign of any side branches or even buds. Just look at it now. Several of the branches are now longer than my arm. I still think it's lonely so I'm ordering a second medlar of a different variety, it will have a friend from some time next winter. I'm looking forewarned to seeing the first blossoms, if I'm lucky it might be next spring. I'm still at war with the local rabbit population, so far sixteen of the tree crunching vermin have become casualties of the war. They shouldn't have started it!
