Last Orders

I have just ordered the last trees for my fledgling orchard, Another eighteen apple trees, eleven plum, damson and gage trees, one pear and one medlar.

The orders compromise:-

One Iranian medlar

All the apple trees are one year maidens on MM106 rootstock and the plums, damsons and gages are also one year maidens on St Juliens A rootstock.
I will also be planting two hazel bushes in one of the lines as they may manage to survive in the shade of a huge ash tree in my neighbours ground.  This will give me a total of sixty nine trees, I may just manage to sneak in another tree to make it an even seventy.  If I do it will probably be another James Grieve as they get a good write up for cider and juicing.  I don't expect any of the orders to arrive before the middle of next month at the earliest.  I will take pictures once I start planting and try to take regular pictures of the development or lack of it as they start to grow.  I haven't decided what I intend to do with all the fruit yet but on the principle of "not counting chickens before they hatch" I will get everything going before I get too excited about cider, apple pies and fresh plums.
