The Last Plum

A late frost took out most of the plum blossom this year but one of my Victoria trees wasn't going to be beaten.  It had a second go at flowering and produced a single plum which has duly ripened by mid October.  I dare not leave it any longer as we have had one ground frost at the beginning of the week. So I picked it on the fourteenth of October and ate it.  No I didn't even offer half of it to my wife, I ate the whole thing.  Well why not? After all I grew it.  I wonder if anyone else has known Victoria plums to behave in this way.  My other Victoria tree hasn't flowered yet it will be its third chance next spring and if it doesn't book its ideas up if may be moving to a bonfire.  Both these trees were two year old pot grown trees when I planted them so I don't think I'm expecting too much to see a few flowers in its fifth year.  I'll have to give it a sever talking to this coming spring.  Seriously though I am expecting most of the older plum trees to flower next spring and frost willing, produce fruit.
