As you will see from the attached photo my single Discovery apple trees isn't well. It suffered from the depredations of the rabbit population. Though the damage didn't seem as severe as a couple of the other trees it seems to be suffering more. I am not sure if it would be better to scrap the tree and replant, or to leave it and see what develops. I will admit to making a serious mistake with this tree. I took the tree guard off and before thinking removed a strong shoot from below the damage. If I had thought I would have left the shoot to develop. If the tree looked poor next winter I could have removed the main trunk above the shoot and left the shoot to develop into the main trunk. I could plant another Discovery in case I loose this one but if it survives I don't have use for the produce of two Discovery trees. This one was planted to provide us with our first apples of the season.
